Methods for synthesizing nanodimensional metal powders have been developed: nickel, cobalt, copper, bismuth, silver - based on the thermal decomposition and reduction of their carboxylates in organic liquids with a high boiling point. By varying the process conditions, the size of the metal particles can be controlled.
Reduction of the mechanical mixture of silver and bismuth stearates leads to the formation of spherical aggregates up to 1 μm in size, consisting of small particles of silver and bismuth up to 100 nm in size.
Advantages of the method are simplicity of implementation and the possibility of scaling the process.
Varying the process conditions, it is possible to control the size of the metal particles.
